- :
- : It was available only on QLink (Quantum Link) which was the America
- : Online (or Compuserve or Genie, you know the BIG online service) of the
- : Commodore 64 a few years ago.
- :
- : You'd pick a character (head, body, ect.., graphics and colors), and
- : sign on. You would then move your character around this virtual world
- : using the joystick or keyboard. Any other characters you saw walking
- : around were other people who happend to be signed on at the time. You

- : tickle them, stick you tongue out at them, or whatever (there were like a
- : dozen or so actions you could do). Of course people could do this to you
- : as well.
- : There also was a money system in play. You could get money and with it
- : you could buy things such as hats or different colored clothing, keys
- : (opened locked doors), or trinkets (did things like temporarily changed
- : people's graphics. You could turn people or yourself into lizards for
- : example).
- : There were many many rooms to explore. Caves, beaches, shops, forests,
- : It was like a giant Video Game, just like a Sierra Game (Kings Quest,
- : Loom, ect) but much much better.
- :
- : It was really incredible what they did, and even more incredible to
- : think that they did it on a low-end mainframe and a few thousand connected
- : C64s!!! It did slow down at times, but it was still lots of fun. But at
- : $4.80 per hour it was too expensive for me to do much with it.

- Club Caribe was amazing. I too couldn't spend much time on because of
- the cost. If you was a little more info on what Habitat finally became
- check out http://www.communities.com. They have a little tribute to Club
- Caribe.
